Lights earn 2nd place finish at Westerns

The roller coaster season for the Northern Lights Baseball Academy U18 club came to an end Sunday as the team wrapped up Westerns yesterday.

After winning their final round robin game against the North Delta Blue Jays Sunday morning 3-2, the Lights earned a spot in the Championship game thanks to a 3-1 record in the round robin.

The Lights met the only team to beat them in the round robin in the Final, the Saskatoon Cubs.

It was a tight ball game from start to finish between the two clubs, but it was the Cubs, who would claim the Western Championship with a 9-8 win in extra innings.

However, despite the loss, it was a very successful season for the Lights ball club.

They won Tier 2 Provincials in Fort McMurray, finished 2nd in Tier 1 Provincials in Sherwood Park, and now a 2nd place finish at Westerns.
