Highway 40 near Grande Cache to have substantial repairs

Drivers heading between Grande Cache and Grande Prairie can expect single lane, alternating traffic in the Sheep Creek Provincial Recreation Area for the next several months.

The road has been reduced to one lane at Township Road 581A and speed is down to 50 km/h through that stretch. This is because of significant road damage, what Alberta 511 is calling pavement failure, due to recent landslides and continuous wet weather in the area.

Alberta Transportation says construction will include the building of a retaining wall, landslide excavation and repaving work.
