Process to begin repairs on Spring Creek Road underway

The process to begin repair work is underway for Spring Creek Road.

The County of Grande Prairie says geotechnical work is complete and construction design is currently underway.

Earlier this summer, the section of Township Road 711 between Range Road 71, known as Spring Creek Road, was closed due to wet springs causing a slumping slope, making the road and bridge unstable.

County council approved $5 million for the tender to complete the repair work.

County council says because the project involves both work on a road and on the surrounding slope that cross a body of water, permits from Fisheries and Oceans Canada are required, and that the permits have been applied for.

As of now, there is no expected timeline for the reopening of the road.
