The GPRC Women’s Soccer Team is off to a hot start in their ACAC regular season.

Sydney Embleton scored in the 32nd minute, while Jayden Demchuk added the insurance marker in the 57th to lead the Wolves to a 2-0 victory over Keyano College on Sunday afternoon, sweeping the weekend double header at Pomeroy Field with their counterparts from Fort McMurray.

Goalkeeper Michelle Brodeur stayed unblemished on the weekend, as she stopped all three shots on goal in the win.

Danja Fredrickson was named the Player of the Game for GPRC.

Meantime on the men’s side, they opened the season with a pair of draws.

Following a 0-0 tie on Saturday, GPRC and Keyano ended Sunday’s contest in a 1-1 draw.

Michael Authenac gave the Wolves the lead early in the second half, but Osman Abdulkadir evened it up in the 57th minute for the Huskies.

Authenac earned the honours of Player of the Game for the Wolves.

Both teams will be in Edmonton this coming weekend for a pair of games. Friday they will take on the King University College, while on Saturday they will visit Concordia.

They’ll return home September 21 and 22 when they host NAIT for a pair of games. Those games will be played at CKC Field.
