Sep 10, 2019 | 4:29 PM

RCMP say a 17-year-old boy was killed on the weekend after a car veered off the road and ran into a house in Fort McMurray.

Police say people inside the house were escorted out by fire crews and several nearby homes had to be evacuated while crews worked to repair a ruptured gas line.

The teenager from Athabasca was pronounced dead at the scene and another 21-year-old passenger in the car suffered serious injuries.

The Mounties say the 22-year-old man driving the car was taken to hospital in Edmonton with life-threatening injuries.
