Saskatchewan is supporting Alberta’s challenge of new federal legislation on how environmental assessments for major construction projects such as oil pipelines are handled.
Alberta has asked its Appeal Court to rule on whether Ottawa’s Bill C-69 is constitutional.
It argues the federal legislation infringes on the rights of provinces to control their own natural resources.
The Saskatchewan government says it will apply for intervener status in the case.
