The WHL has officially landed in the Peace Country.

The Edmonton Oil Kings and Prince George Cougars met up in the first of two exhibition games Thursday night at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek.

The Oil Kings skated away with a 6-1 victory in front of the 3,000 fans in attendance, thanks in part to a pair of goals from Josh Williams. Jalen Luypen had three assists for Edmonton in the win.

The Cougars iced pair of Fort St John natives in the game. Both Connor Bowie and Austin Crossley were held off the score sheet. Dawson Creek native Wyatt McLeod did not dress for the Oil Kings in that contest.
