GPFD investigating Thursday night fire in the city

A small fire broke out at the Courtyard Apartments Thursday evening, and the fire department and RCMP are looking into the root cause of it.

The Grande Prairie Fire Department was called to the complex around 11:40 p.m., where crews found occupants evacuating one of the buildings upon their arrival.

Crews found a small fire that had broken out in the stairwell and it was quickly put out. Damage was limited to the one building.

All residents were able to return to their homes soon after the fire was extinguished. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

However, the GPFD has not determined the cause of the fire and it is under investigation at this time. Anyone who has any information about what might have caused this fire are asked to contact Grande Prairie RCMP.
