The North West Junior Hockey League officially returns Friday night, as both the JDA Kings and Sexsmith Vipers open up at home to kickoff the 2019-2020 regular season.

First, at the Crosslink County Sportsplex, a rematch of the Senator’s Cup final from last season goes between the JDA Kings and Fort St John Huskies.

The Kings will be looking for revenge on the Pups, as the Huskies claimed the league title at Sportsplex ice in game six with a convincing 8-1 victory.

At the same time, just north on Highway 2, the Vipers will tangle with the North Peace Navigators at Sexsmith arena.

Faceoff for both of those games Friday is 8 p.m. mountain time.

NWJHL opening weekend continues with two more games on Saturday. The Navs will host the Fairview Flyers, while the Vipers will travel to Dawson Creek to battle the Jr. Canucks. Those games also begin at 8 p.m. local time (Alberta and B.C.).

Sunday the Jr. Canucks will be at the Sportsplex to face the JDA Kings to close out the weekend. Faceoff will be 2 p.m. mountain.
