The curtain was raised on the 2019-2020 NWJHL season with a pair of games on Friday night.

Jared Loewen also scored for the defending champs, while Rylen Kleist and Justin Rudyk replied for the Kings.

Meanwhile in Sexsmith, netminder Tyson Walker made 41 saves to lift the hometown Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers to a 3-2 win over the North Peace Navigators.

Shane Horseman, Ty Deleeuw and Jordan Bartlett scored for the Vipers, while Keegan Ferguson and Dawson Gour replied for the Navigators.

There are two games on the Saturday night schedule, as the Vipers head to Dawson Creek to face the Junior Canucks, while the Navigators return home to Peace River to host Fairview.
