Female dead after shooting involving Edmonton area police

One person is dead after a police-involved shooting near Edmonton.

RCMP say a female caller in Strathcona County asked officers to come to her home around 7:30 this morning, where she and the Mounties soon got into a confrontation.

An officer fired their gun and the female was seriously injured and died in hospital, but no officers were hurt.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team — Alberta’s police watchdog — is investigating, but no other details have been released.
