Wednesday marks National Tree Day

Sep 25, 2019 | 4:16 PM

It is National Tree Day.

Tree Canada calls this a chance to celebrate the things that trees provide, like clean air, habitat for wildlife, and a chance to connect with nature.

The group goes on to say that trees clean air by absorbing greenhouse gases, help cool cities, increase property values, and even help to prevent crime, citing a study that says a 10 per cent increase in tree canopy can lead to a 12 per cent decrease in crime

Tree Day is celebrated every year on the Wednesday of National Forest Week.
