September sleet and snow reported in some local areas

Sep 26, 2019 | 11:30 AM

Areas in the region have been reporting sleet and snow.

Demmit saw the rain/snow mixture this morning.

The Hythe area also had snow before noon today.

Frost advisories are in place for the High Level region and areas of Fort McMurray-Fort MacKay.

There are no winter storm watches in place for the Grande Prairie region today, but Environment Canada has issued winter storm watches for parts of southern Alberta.

In the south, a winter storm watch is in effect for Cardston-Fort Macleod-Magrath, Crowsnest Pass-Pincher Creek-Waterton Lakes, Kananaskis-Canmore and Okotoks-High River-Claresholm.

The forecast suggests up to 30 centimetres of snow could fall by Monday, up to 50 centimetres in higher terrain in the southwest.
