Teen killed in crash near Chestermere

Sep 26, 2019 | 8:32 AM

A 15-year-old southern Alberta boy is dead after the car he was driving went off a road and struck a tree and a fence.

The crash happened late Wednesday evening in the community of Chestermere, just east of Calgary, and led to a traffic diversion that lasted for about six hours.

RCMP say the car hit a curb, which caused it to cross the centre line of the road.

The vehicle, carrying just one person, then hit the tree and fence before coming to rest.

The Chestermere resident died at the scene.

Police believe speed was a factor in the accident.
