Grande Prairie couple to receive free furnace through FEEL THE LOVE program

Sep 28, 2019 | 7:17 AM

A couple from Grande Prairie is getting a free Lennox furnace from LSM Lee’s Sheet Metal 2007 Ltd. through the FEEL THE LOVE program.

Gordie Provencher, CEO for LSM says they have customers who do not have any heat and cannot afford a furnace. Throughout the summer they hear the stories of their customers and pick one that they feel is most in need of a free furnace.

The FEEL THE LOVE program was started about 10 years ago in Wisconsin.

“And Lennox dealers, to help give back to the community, started providing a free furnace for individuals that were in need. It was a very successful program that kind of spread through North America and this is something that Lennox with all their dealers throughout North America now,” Provencher explained.

Next Saturday, Dave and Karie Ann will be recipients of a new furnace.

Karie Ann lost her mom and her dad’s dementia has been progressing and he is now in the hospital. With the loss of his income, and a increase of medical bills, the couple is struggling. They have also had a number of appliances in their home break down.

On August 28 LSM was called to Dave and Karie Ann’s home because they had no heat. The technician diagnosed a cracked heat exchanger. There was the danger of carbon monoxide and flames were present. The furnace was condemned and shut down.

“They have no heat right now,” Provencher said. “We’ve got all out staff volunteering and we will have a BBQ and replace their furnace.”

Lennox industries donated the furnace and controls. LSM will be donating all other materials for the installation and participating staff working at the instal will be donating their time.
