Grande Prairie, province looking at temperature drop as cold front passes

Oct 7, 2019 | 6:12 AM

UPDATE: (3:26 p.m.) Environment Canada has ended all the special weather statements.

Environment Canada says an intense cold front is on the way to our region.

Grande Prairie and area, as well as most of Alberta, are under a special weather statement as the front is expected to bring with it gusting winds and a significant temperature drop that could see temperatures stay at or below zero for a daytime high Tuesday.

Environment Canada is calling for a high of 11 degrees today, before dropping down to plus three later this afternoon. Tuesday’s high is being called at minus one, with wind chill making it feel near minus 11. Check their website for the most up to date weather information.

Snow fall is possible with this type of weather system. Environment Canada says heavy amounts of snow could fall in the Banff and Jasper areas as a result of the cold front, and are under a snowfall warning.
