Paving work on 100 Street to finish by end of next week

Oct 8, 2019 | 1:10 PM

The City says a paving project on 100 Street should be finished by the end of next week.

The City’s Mark Hoseasson says the stretch between 99 and 84 Avenues is getting new asphalt.

“We’re doing what we call a mill-and-fill operation. We’re removing a layer of asphalt then paving in a new layer of asphalt. It’s to restore the rideability and extend the surface life of that roadway.”

He adds some other work is being done at the same time.

“As part of those projects, we generally do a little spot replacement of concrete to fix up any bad concrete that’s bad for drainage issues or stuff like that. Markings will be done after the pavement is done, too.”

Hoseasson says if the weather allows, everything, including clean-up, should be done by the end of next week.

“Major operations should all be completed next week. By clean-up, I mean filling in behind the curbs and some stuff like that might be remaining. After the end of next week, hopefully, it is all done too.”

Hoseasson is asking drivers to be mindful of crews in the work area, or to find an alternate route.
