Weather Watch: Storm and Thunder clash at Revolution Place

Oct 9, 2019 | 9:15 AM

The Grande Prairie Storm return to Revolution Place tonight as they are set to host the Drayton Valley Thunder.

It’ll be the team’s first game back at their home rink since September 23 (a 3-1 loss to the Spruce Grove Saints). With being away from the Swan City for so long and after a tough weekend, Head Coach Matt Keillor says his group is eager to bounce back at home.

“Just mentally, it’s nice to get back home and play in front of those nice home crowds,” said Keillor. “I think the kids are really looking forward to it.”

Tonight’s contest is also the first of four straight in Grande Prairie for the Storm. Including the pre-season, the Storm have played away from home in 13 of their 17 games. On that note, Keillor is excited to get the opportunity to have more games at home.

“It’s starting to get cold and the snow’s flying. Now teams are going to have to make long bus rides up here,” said Keillor. “We got to make sure that we take advantage of that.”

This will be the first of six meetings between the Storm and Thunder this season and the only one of which that will come in the 2019 portion of the schedule. The Storm took four of the six meetings between the two clubs last season.

Puck drop is at 7:30. The Storm will also be at home on Friday when they host the Bonnyville Pontiacs for Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
