Celtics, Titans victorious in Wednesday MPFL action

Two Grande Prairie teams were victorious in Mighty Peace Football League action Wednesday night.

At CKC Field, the St. Joe’s Celtics won their seventh game of the season as they beat the High Prairie Renegades 39-12. The Celtics now prepare for a big exhibition tilt on Friday, as they will take on the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams in Fort Saskatchewan. L.C.I. comes in as the #7 ranked team in all of Tier I football in Alberta.

Elsewhere the Peace Wapiti Titans cruised to a 39-14 win over the Valleyview (Hillside) Cougars at Legion Field. The Titans took an early lead, going up 25-8 at the half and never surrendered the lead.

Two more games go today in the MPFL. The Sexsmith Sabres host the Whitecourt Cats at CKC Field for a 5 p.m. kick-off. The GP Comp Warriors also travel up to Peace River to battle the Pioneers at 4 p.m.
