Canucks take over sole possession of top spot in NWJHL

Saturday night’s NWJHL schedule featured a showdown between the top two teams in the circuit.

The hometown Dawson Creek Junior Canucks jumped out to a 4-0 lead, and cruised the remainder of the way to a 5-2 win over the Fairview Flyers.

Brandon Rowley scored twice for the Junior Canucks, including the winner just one minute into the second period.

Chase Henrickson, Mason McLeod and Craig MacDonald also scored for Dawson Creek, who moved two points ahead of the Flyers for top spot in the league with the win.

Spencer Bjorklund and Sage Joachim replied for Fairview.

The other game on Saturday night saw Fort St John score five unanswered goals to erase a 2-0 deficit, en route to a 5-2 win over the County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings.

Connor Kindrat scored twice for the Huskies, while Dawson Phillips, Cayden Frenette, and Jared Winkel added singles.

Blake Gillingham and Justin Rudyk each had a goal and an assist for the Kings.
