NTL Pipelines donates $10,000 to Sexsmith Christmas Hamper Campaign

The Sexsmith and Area Christmas Hamper campaign started this month and has already received a big donation.

NTL Pipelines donated $10,000 towards the campaign on Friday.

Naomi Robinson, the Family and Community Support Services Coordinator for the town of Sexsmith, says the money will go a long way.

“This donation will go towards helping us to purchase whatever we don’t get through donations. We look after the turkeys, the hams, any gifts. Our teen gifts are always lower, we always get a lot of gifts for our little people, so sometimes we do gift cards for the teens, just those types of things. The ten grand probably covers close to half of our Christmas Hamper Campaign.”

She adds they have already received a total of about $13,000 in donations and are hoping to reach $20,000.

The campaign looks after the areas of Sexsmith, Bezanson, Teepee Creek, Clairmont, LaGlace, and all of the rural areas in between.

Robinson says the hampers contain items for the holiday season.

“We get together as a community and we start making hampers. Our hampers are amazing, we have four to five boxes of non-perishable foods that usually comes with your turkey, your ham, your bread, your buns, your vegetables. Everything for a complete turkey meal, and probably the month of January would be looked after as well.”

She says that for those looking to apply to receive a hamper or looking to donate, they can contact the Town of Sexsmith.
