The Canadian Finals Rodeo starts in less than two weeks and some local cowboys have qualified.

Five locals in all are headed to CFR 46.

Sexsmith’s Lee Rombough will be in the tie-down roping after finishing sixth in the Canadian standings this year.

Saddle bronc rider Jake Watson of Hudson’s Hope goes in as the highest-placed qualifier from our area. He wound up fourth in the saddle bronc rankings.

Two other BC Peace cowboys will be in the steer wrestling. Fort St. John’s Stephen Culling finished ninth, Pouce Coupe’s Clayton Moore tenth, in the standings this year.

Dawson Creek bull rider Jacob Gardner also had a tenth place finish this year.

CFR will run October 29 through November 3 in Red Deer.
