GPAC Midget AAA teams victorious on Sunday

Sunday was a good day for Grande Peace Athletic Club teams across the province.

In Airdrie, the Ernie’s Sports Experts Midget AAA squad bounced back following their first loss of the season on Saturday in Calgary with a 5-2 win over the CFR Bisons. Sheldon Kwiatkowski had a goal and an assist, while Cam Wiebe, Devin Aubin, Clayton Brown and Ty Toews also added goals for the Storm.

McCoy Bidewell stopped 22 shots for the victory. The Storm are now 4-1-0 to open the AMHL season.

Meanwhile, in Spruce Grove, Connor Stojan stood on his head to help the Boston Pizza Minor Midget Storm pick up their first win of the season.

The Storm goaltender stopped all 56 shots he saw to help lead his team to a 4-0 victory over the Parkland Athletic Club Saints. Olen Nordhagen had two goals for the Storm, while Brendan Wabick and Brody West also added markers for the Storm.
