Hazmat team called in and 37 cats put down in Edmonton

Oct 22, 2019 | 7:26 AM

Police say they were forced to call in a hazmat team from the fire department for help during a weekend search of a property in Edmonton.

They say they found 52 cats living in deplorable conditions in both a house and a motorhome.

Thirty-seven of them had to be put down, and the residence has been condemned and boarded up by city officials.

Warrants were issued for two women who are facing charges under the Criminal Code and Animal Protection Act.
