Football postseason underway in the Peace Country

Playoff football is now in full swing in the Peace Country.

The postseason began Wednesday night at CKC Field, as the Wembley Bulldogs took down the Grande Prairie Norsemen 12-6 in a quarterfinal matchup in the Mighty Peace Bantam Football League.

The Bulldogs’ next game will come in the semifinals on Monday when they meet up with the Grande Prairie Broncos.

On the other side of the playoff bracket, the Grande Prairie Raiders and Peace River Prospectors will clash tonight at CKC in the other quarterfinal. Kick-off is at 6 p.m. with the winner advancing to face the Sexsmith Shamrocks in the other semi.

Meantime in the Mighty Peace Football League, the Peace Bowl and Athabasca Bowl playoffs get underway on Saturday.

CKC Field will be home to the first round of the Peace Bowl playoffs that day, as the GP Comp Warriors will take on the Sexsmith Sabres at 11 a.m., followed by the St Joe’s Celtics and Whitecourt Cats squaring off in the other game at 2 p.m.

Legion Field will be home to the Athabasca Bowl games, with Peace Wapiti taking on High Prairie at 11 a.m. and the Peace River Pioneers facing the Valleyview Cougars at 2.
