Crop update from Alberta Agriculture: combining 53 per cent complete

More rain and snow is not what farmers in the Peace wanted to see.
The latest crop report from Alberta Agriculture, dated October 22, says close to 53 per cent of the crop is now in, compared to 49.5 per cent the week before.
The report says yields for what has been combined are well above the five-year average.
As for the quality of the crop that has come off, 76 per cent of the canola and 42 per cent of the hard red spring wheat graded Number 1. None of the peas graded Number 1, while 87 percent came in Number 2.
