Man guilty of attempting to murder Edmonton police officer, 4 pedestrians; sentencing hearing scheduled for December

A sentencing hearing is to be held in December for a man convicted of attempting to murder an Edmonton police officer and four pedestrians two years ago.

A jury returned guilty verdicts this morning against Abdulahi Hasan Sharif.

Court heard that Sharif first struck the officer with a car outside an Edmonton Eskimos football game, then repeatedly stabbed the constable.

Sharif hit four pedestrians with a U-Haul van during a police chase into downtown.
