UPDATE: Highway 43 near Demmitt re-opened

Oct 25, 2019 | 11:16 AM

UPDATE (2:57 p.m.): Highway 43 has been cleared and reopened for travel. RCMP would like to thank the public for their patience.

Beaverlodge RCMP are on Highway 43 helping with the traffic as tow trucks work to get four semi-trailer trucks out of ditches.

The highway is currently impassable, with traffic not getting through in either direction from Range Road 132 near Demmitt, west to the B.C. border.

RCMP are asking motorists to avoid the area or prepare for a long delay, and they expect that it will take about an hour and a half for the semis to be removed.

Roads and highways in the Beaverlodge, Grande Prairie and Valleyview areas may be slippery with reduced visibility due to the recent snowfall.

RCMP are reminding drivers to use caution and slow down during poor weather conditions.
