Alberta’s finance minister and the MLA for Grande Prairie/Wapiti says the province will have the luxury of diversifying its revenues after its budget is balanced.
Travis Toews told the Calgary Chamber of Commerce that the United Conservative government’s priority is to eliminate the deficit by cutting spending and not raising taxes.
He made his remarks one day after introducing a budget that cuts corporate taxes.
The budget also scrapped tax incentives brought in by the N-D-P that were aimed at diversifying Alberta’s oil-based economy toward tech and other sectors.
