Horner Cup, Peace and Athabasca Bowl finals all set

The finals are all set in both the Mighty Peace Football and Bantam Football Leagues.

In the MPBFL, the Sexsmith Shamrocks are off to the Horner Cup final as took down the Peace River Prospectors 58-27 in semifinal action on Tuesday night at CKC Field.

The Shamrocks will meet the defending champion Grande Prairie Broncos in the league final, after the Broncos cruised by the Wembley Bulldogs 35-0 on Monday night in the other semi.

The final game will go on Saturday, November 2 at 4:30 p.m. at CKC Field.

Meantime the Peace and Athabasca Bowls will also be played this weekend.

On Friday, the Peace Wapiti Titans will take on the Valleyview Cougars in the Athabasca Bowl. PWA advanced with a 44-8 win in the semifinals over High Prairie, while Valleyview topped the Peace River Pioneers 12-2.

That game will kick off at 6:00 p.m. on November 1 at CKC Field.

In the Peace Bowl, it’ll be the St. Joe’s Celtics going for their sixth straight Peace Bowl title when they take on the GP Comp Warriors. The two met back on September 27 of this year, where the Celtics claimed a 28-14 victory.

Game time on Saturday is 1:00 p.m., also at CKC Field.
