Seven Generations Energy breaks ground on new Grande Prairie office

Seven Generations Energy broke ground for the location of their new Grande Prairie office on Friday, November 1.

The new building will be about 60,000 square feet with around 170 offices, located within the Brochu Industrial Park.

Marty Proctor, CEO of Seven Generations, says he is excited to bring the team together into one location.

“We’ve grown pretty rapidly, we’ve now got just about 175 people in Grande Prairie and we’ve been spread out in a few different buildings, and it’s always a little less efficient to communicate when you’re not in the same place, and so part of it was to get a good space for our team to be more comfortable in their work, but also so we can collaborate better, be together more often.”

Recently, the Canadian energy company Encana announced it’s move from Calgary to the U.S. to open itself up to more investors.

Despite this, Proctor says he is still optimistic of Alberta, specifically the Grande Prairie region.

“I feel very, very good about the prospects of responsibly developing this resource and providing the energy really that the world needs in a responsible way. So, I think in a long-term perspective, I feel really good about the prospects for this community, and I think the resource that we’re working on, on behalf of Albertans and British Columbians, is going to be very good.”

Construction of the project is slated to begin in the upcoming weeks, and they are expecting to be finished in April of 2021.

Proctor says the total investment for the land and the building is about $35 million.
