Home teams enjoy strong night in NWJHL, NPHL

Theo Cunningham and Robert Lemay each had a goal and two assists as the North Peace Navigators beat the visiting County of Grande Prairie JDA Kings 4-1 on Saturday night.

Phoenix Dumas and Dylan Bellerose also scored for the Navigators, while Cody Graw replied for the Kings.

Elsewhere in the NWJHL, Eric Dentinger scored at the 2:04 mark of overtime as the hometown Fairview Flyers edged the league leading Fort St John Huskies 2-1.

Rylee Hebert for Fairview and Alex Nimmo for Fort St john provided the scoring in regulation time.

And in Sexsmith, the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks picked up a 2-1 shoot out win over the Sundown Oilfield Services Vipers.

Brandon Rowley scored for the Canucks in regulation, then added a goal in the shoot out along with Chase Henrickson.

Thomas Lavalley scored in regulation for the Vipers, as well as recording their only shoot out goal in three attempts.

Meanwhile, the home side recorded lopsided wins in both NPHL games on Saturday.

Josh Rutherford had four goals and two assists as the Manning Comets blasted the High Prairie Regals 12-0.

Taylor Paulovich added two goals and two assists, while Layne MacLean, Logan Newman, Jeff Boese, Adam Larsen, Brett Nicklason and Brit Oleschefski added singles for the Comets.

Braden Gamble picked up the shut out.

In Dawson Creek, Brett Norman and Liam Craig each scored twice to lead the Canucks to a 7-2 win over the Grimshaw Huskies.

Trevor Dahlen, Dolan Bjornson and Ryley Muise also scored for Dawson Creek, while Ty Wiebe and Brendan Hawryluk replied for Grimshaw.
