GPAC Major Midget Storm end weekend on winning note

The Grande Peace Athletic Club Ernie’s Sports Midget AAA team continued it’s hot start to the season, picking up their fourth win in five games on Sunday as they topped the CAC Gregg Distributors of Edmonton 7-1 at the Coca Cola Centre.

Seven different Storm Players accounted for the goals, including Nolan Flint, Devin Aubin, Landon Hedges, Ty Toews, Jayden Watson, Kaden Reinders and Codie Saunders. Terris Lappenbush made 31 saves in the win.

The win completed a weekend sweep for the Storm, who picked up a 4-3 win at home on Saturday over the Lethbridge Hurricanes. They now sit in second place in the Dodge North Division in the AMHL with a 7-2-0 record.

Up next, the team will stay at Weyerhaeuser Arena for two games next weekend. On Saturday they’ll host the Calgary Royals at noon, while on Sunday they will entertain the St. Albert Nektar Raiders at 3 p.m.

Meantime the Boston Pizza Minor Midget Storm drew a 1-1 tie with the Lloydminster Bobcats at the Coke Centre on Sunday. Brody West scored the lone goal for the Storm.

They now sit with a record of 1-7-4 on the AMMHL season. There next action will come from the Coke Centre on Saturday and Sunday, as they host the CBHA Blackhawks out of Calgary for a pair of contests. Game times are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday.
