Athletics and Canucks remain unbeaten in NPHL

There are now just two unbeaten teams remaining after the first two weekends of the 2019-2020 North Peace Hockey League season.

The Grande Prairie Athletics improved to 3-and-0, and handed the Manning Comets their first loss of the season with a 3-2 triumph at the Coca Cola Centre.

Calvin Sanders, Marc-Antoine Viens and Tyler Hartman scored for the Athletics, while Taylor Paulovich and Josh Rutherford replied for the Comets.

Meanwhile, the Dawson Creek Canucks scored six times in the second period en route to a 12-3 rout over Falher, as the Canucks improved to 2-and-0 on the season.

Brett Norman scored twice and added three assists for Dawson Creek, while Owen Leclair and Wes Shipton also added two goals each.

Kevin Swales, Trevor Dahlen, Dolan Bjornson, Kole Norris, Liam Craig and Matt Schermund also scored for the Canucks, while Morgan Maclean with a pair and Darren Kramer replied for the Pirates, who fell to 0-and-2 on the season.
