Freezing rain warnings end, roads re-opening

Nov 15, 2019 | 1:02 PM

UPDATE: (2:53 pm) 511 Alberta says Highway 59 is open again. The freezing rain warning for Grande Cache and Hinton has ended.

The freezing rain warning has ended for Grande Prairie, Beaverlodge, and Valleyview.

The warnings for Grande Cache and Hinton have also ended, but there are still ones in place for Fox Creek, Whitecourt, and Slave Lake.

Grande Prairie RCMP say Highway 43 at the Smoky Hill is now open in all directions.

511 Alberta says Highway 59 about four kilometres east of La Glace is still closed because of what it calls a multi-vehicle collision.

511 Alberta adds Highway 40 between Grande Prairie and the Cutbank River, Highway 43 west to Wembley, and Highway 43X have all re-opened.

Police caution that roads can still be icy and drivers should allow extra time to get to where they are going.
