Navs respond with convincing win over Sexsmith

Nov 21, 2019 | 7:06 AM

After dropping both of their games over the past weekend, the North Peace Navigators responded with a dominating performance.

Keegan Ferguson scored a goal and added two assists, while Austin Doan had three helpers of his own to power the Navs to a convincing 7-1 win over the Sundown Oilfield Services Sexsmith Vipers on Wednesday.

Despite the two losses to Fort St. John on Saturday and Sunday, the win over the Vipers is the Nav’s eighth in their last ten games. The Vipers have now dropped eight of their last nine.

North Peace jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first 20 minutes. Despite the Vipers scoring first, thanks to Gavin Huber’s third of the season just 1:39 into the game, the Navs would score four unanswered goals to take a commanding lead after the first period.

Phoenix Dumas and Cole Isaac would add goals in the second, while Benny Yellowknee would pot one in the third to complete the goal scoring for North Peace. Final shots on goal were 54-29 in favour of North Peace.

Next league action goes on Friday night with a pair of games. The JDA Kings will visit the Dawson Creek Junior Canucks, and the Navs will head to Fairview to face the Flyers. Both games start at 8:00.
