Odyssey House benefits from Share the Warmth campaign

The first annual Share the Warmth clothing drive appears to have been a success.

Business Network International’s (BNI) Northern Connection chapter, which is based in Grande Prairie, collected clothing for the Odyssey House Women’s Shelter, and Nicky Cawson says they had great support from the public. They collected over 200 items, that were then loaded into a van and taken to the drycleaners.

“It was stockpiled with warm coats, and fleeces and hoodies. It was quite overwhelming.”

On Monday, after the clothes were collected and laundered, BNI dropped the donation off at Odyssey House. Cawson says they we’re very excited to receive the donation.

“It was good, everybody was almost with tears in their eyes. We were quite happy, and I think they were quite happy. And Stephan [the facilities manager at Odyssey House] had said it’s perfect that it’s coming in laundered, because it’s coming in the door and going right back out.”

Crawson says they plan on making Share the Warmth an annual tradition, and hope to collect even more clothing donations next year.
