Local players at Canada Cup of Curling

Three teams with local connections will be chasing a more than wins at the Canada Cup of Curling starting Wednesday in Leduc.

Cary Ann McTaggart and Kristie Moore of Grande Prairie are with Team Scheidegger. Cheryl Bernard will fill in at skip. Motherhood has called away usual skip Casey Scheidegger

Team Gushue, with Beaverlodge product Geoff Walker at lead, is also there, as is Team Koe, led by former Grande Prairie resident Kevin Koe.

All three will play in Draw 1 Wednesday morning at 9 a.m., Scheidegger against Jennifer Jones, Gushue versus Brendan Bottcher, and Koe against John Epping.

The winners will get a spot at the 2021 Roar of the Rings in Saskatoon. That event will decide Canada’s men’s and women’s teams for the 2022 Winter Olympics.
