RCMP say the investigation shows that a pickup truck collided with the rear of a semi truck, and both vehicles were travelling eastbound when the collision occurred.

A 19-year-old man from Grimshaw was the driver and only occupant of the pickup truck, and was transported to the Grande Prairie hospital by Stars Air Ambulance. His injuries are not known at this time.

The driver of the semi truck, a 40-year-old man from Sherwood Park, was not injured.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing at this time.

RCMP are on the scene of a collision on Highway 43 at the Smoky Hill involving a semi truck and a pickup truck.

Currently, one eastbound lane is open, according to 511 Alberta. Westbound lanes are unaffected.

RCMP say delays can be expected and are suggesting motorists reroute if possible.
