Human remains found near Slave Lake identified, investigation ongoing

Police say human remains found in northern Alberta last fall have been identified as those of a Calgary man who disappeared under suspicious circumstances more than four years ago.

Bradley Shaw, who was 27, was last seen by relatives in Calgary on Sept. 2, 2015.

Security video showing him in Airdrie, Alta., that same day is believed to be the last time he was seen alive.

The remains were discovered near Slave Lake in October 2018 and, a year later, the RCMP released a composite sketch and model rendering to help identify them.

Calgary police say an investigator with the missing persons unit saw the sketch and suspected the man was Shaw, and the chief medical examiner’s office then used dental records to confirm the identity.

The cause of death has not been released and no one has been arrested, but a homicide investigation continues.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Calgary Police Service non-emergency number at 403-266-1234, Slave Lake RCMP at 780-849-3999 or Crime Stoppers.
