Supreme Court rejects appeal from man convicted of killing two Alberta seniors

Dec 5, 2019 | 3:09 PM

The case of an Alberta man convicted of killing two Edmonton-area seniors will not be argued before Canada’s highest court.

The Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from Travis Vader, who was given a life sentence for the July 2010 deaths of Lyle and Marie McCann.

Vader’s lawyers had argued that the case was dragged through the courts, and that the trial judge made errors and showed bias when he substituted the lesser offence of manslaughter for two second-degree murder verdicts.

As usual, the Supreme Court gave no reasons for refusing to hear Vader’s arguments.
