Charges laid against three Grande Prairie men after residential search recovered stolen mail

Grande Prairie RCMP recovered 46 pieces of mail, belonging to 46 individuals, when they executed a search warrant on December 1 at a home in the Highland Park neighbourhood after receiving calls from concerned citizens.

Police also seized several items that were previously reported stolen, including a cell phone, a dirt bike, a store scanner, three credit cards, cheques, two passports and an Alberta drivers’ licence.

Various substances believed to have been heroin and crystal methamphetamine, and five different types of ammunition were also seized.

Ten people were found inside the residence and taken into custody during the search.

Three Grande Prairie males have been charged, including 41-year-old Nathan Jones, 31-year-old Daryl Pearson and 37-year-old Christopher Hanson.

Jones is facing various charges, including:

  • 46 counts of possession of stolen mail
  • Seven counts of possession of stolen property
  • Possession of a break-in instrument
  • Two counts of possession of controlled substance
  • Three counts of possession of other persons identity document
  • Two counts of failure to comply

Pearson is facing charges of:

  • 46 counts of possession of stolen mail
  • Ten counts of possession of stolen property
  • Possession of a break-in instrument
  • Two counts of possession of controlled substance
  • Three counts of possession of other persons identity document

Hanson is facing four counts of possession of ammunition while prohibited, failure to comply, and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Additional charges are pending against two others. All other people arrested in the residence were released with no charges.

Both Jones and Hanson appeared in court on December 4, 2019, while Pearson is to appear on December 18, 2019.
