Swan City Rotary Club hoping for boost in Cars for Christmas tickets

The Swan City Rotary Club is hoping to see a boost in ticket sales during the home stretch of the Cars for Christmas Mega Lottery.

Dave Cook, who is the Chair of the Club’s Lottery Committee, says ticket sales in the last couple weeks have seen a bit of a dip, as the annual lottery gets closer to the December 30 deadline.

Not that Cook is overly concerned at this point.

“As we expect, typical Grande Prairie and Peace region, everybody waits until the last minute,” said Cook. “So, we’re hoping the last-minute shoppers will consider buying a ticket.”

Cook adds that the club didn’t set out a hard goal of how much money they wanted to raise ahead of this year’s lottery, which is the 20th annual for the club.

“But what we do look at is trying to benefit all the organizations that we support, which is over 53 in this region. Non-profits and charities.”

The lottery has a number of vehicles up for grabs as the big prizes, including a 2019 Cadillac Escalade Platinum and a 2019 Ford F350 Lariat edition.

There is also the Christmas Cash Draw 50/50. Tickets for those are just over 50% sold and Cook is hoping to sell out, making it so the winner can walk away with $175,000.

This year they are also holding a 12 Days of Christmas draw. The draw will see the name drawn on day one walk away with $1,000 cash, with the prizes increasing in value each of the 12 days.

Tickets for any of these draws can be purchased online, or at the kiosk in the Prairie Mall until December 30.

“We’d be glad for anybody in this area to come out and support us,” said Cook. “It means a lot to this community, and this region. We look forward to everybody’s support.”
