Late game heroics power Athletics past Huskies

The Grande Prairie Athletics remain the only team in the NPHL to have not lost a game in regulation time yet this season.

Braden Crone’s goal with 9.4 seconds remaining powered the defending champs to a come from behind 3-2 home ice win over Grimshaw on Saturday night.

Sam Bosek and morgan Eaton also scored for the Athletics, who trailed 2-0 after the first on the strength of goals by Kyle Richardson and Allan Mazur for the Huskies.

One other game in the league on Saturday night saw Wes Shipton record a hat trick as Dawson Creek doubled up Manning 8-4.

Brett Norman, Levi George, Reid Campbell, Kevin Hope and Jonathan Jasper also scored for the Canucks, while Josh Rutherford, Carson Ewing, Jeff Boese and Dave Lawrence replied for the Comets.
