Court update: Warrant issued in Fox Creek abduction case, sentence in one drug case, trial dates set in another

Dec 16, 2019 | 7:42 PM

An arrest warrant has been issued for the man charged after an alleged abduction of three children in Fox Creek

D’artangan Dirk Pool did not show up, nor did a lawyer appear on his behalf, during a scheduled appearance Monday in Grande Prairie Court of Queen’s Bench.

His lawyer had already applied to be removed as counsel of record, a request that was granted.

Pool and Charmaine Annette Darnel were charged after three kids were taken from a Fox Creek home around 1:30 a.m. June 1.

The children and their mother were later found in a vehicle near Sylvan Lake. The kids were not hurt

Darnel has already pleaded guilty to four charges and is due back in Fox Creek court December 23.

Five-year sentence for selling drugs

A Grande Prairie man has been handed a five-year sentence after pleading guilty to a pair of drug trafficking charges.

Alec Levin also admitted to a pair of failure to comply counts during a December 11 court appearance in Grande Prairie. Six other charges were withdrawn.

He was arrested after a traffic stop on April 24, 2019, that was done because the license plate did not belong to this vehicle.

Mounties seized 29 grams of fentanyl, 72 grams of cocaine, 81 grams of methamphetamine, and $2000 cash.

The five-year sentence also covers a guilty plea to a possession for the purpose of trafficking charge from a separate arrest. He was also given a $1000 fine for a charge of shoplifting in another case.

Levin and three others are also due back in court in January after being arrested after a seizure of drugs and weapons in late July this year in Grande Prairie.

Trials set in drug case

Trail dates have been set for one of three people charged after a September 3 drug arrest in Grande Prairie.

The trial for Stacey Aaron Trotter will be held on December 8 and 9, 2020.

He is facing seven charges, including multiple counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, after cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cash were found during a vehicle search.

Lacey Hollingshead of Bluesky and Adam Byrne of Grande Prairie are each facing a possession for the purpose of trafficking charge.

Hollingshead will stand trial July 8.

A warrant was issued for Byrne on September 30.
