Edmonton man found guilty of breaking woman’s arms in road-rage attack to be sentenced Thursday

Dec 18, 2019 | 5:07 PM

Lawyers agree that an Edmonton man found guilty of breaking a woman’s arms with a crowbar in a road-rage attack should spend some time in prison.

The Crown has recommended Jared Eliasson be sentenced to 3 1/2 years, while his defence lawyer says 18 to 24 months would be more appropriate.

A judge is to hand down his decision on Thursday.

Eliasson was acquitted in April of attempted murder but found guilty of aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.

The woman testified at his trial that in March 2017 she had honked at Eliasson for blocking an intersection with his vehicle. She said he followed her home and attacked her.

She was treated in hospital for two broken arms that required multiple surgeries.
