Hinton RCMP have confirmed that 14-month-old Waylon Armstrong and his father Cody Armstrong have both been located unharmed and that the Amber Alert issued Friday morning has ended.

Police say the elder Armstrong is now in police custody.

The Alberta Emergency Alert system cancelled the Amber Alert for Northwest and Central Alberta at 4:47 p.m. Friday, following the alleged abduction of Waylon from a home in Brule.

RCMP said that Cody was in possession of a long barrel rifle when he left his home in Brule with his son at around 2:30 a.m. Friday morning, following an altercation with the boy’s mother.

The vehicle Cody was seen leaving with was later found back at his home on Friday afternoon, where police believed him to be barricaded inside.

No further details have been released. Updates will be provided as they become available.
