Tenille Townes was presented with the Paul Harris Fellow award by the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie on Friday, December 20 at the Rotary Club’s 2020 Dream Home.

Brandon Mann, Rotary Foundation Chair, says the Paul Harris Fellow recognition helps to give back to the community and world.

“It recognizes the giving of $1,000 US to the Rotary Foundation, and the Rotary Foundation goes towards different projects and it could be local, it can be across the world, it also does PolioPlus program, which is one of the reasons that polio is almost eradicated in this world now.”

The money is given in the recipient’s name to the foundation.

Mann says Tenille Towne’s community work is why she was chosen.

“For the things that she’s done in the community, definitely the Big Hearts for Big Kids which has raised $1.9-million for Sunrise House, and other things she has done in the community on top of that.”

Townes recently held the 10th anniversary of Big Hearts for Big Kids, which raised $415,000 for the shelter.

Towne’s mother accepted the certificate as Tenille was unable to attend in person but did respond to the Rotary Club via video message.

The Paul Harris Fellow began in 1957 and is named after a founding member of Rotary International.
