Storm head into Christmas break with back-to-back wins

The Grande Prairie Storm defeated the Olds Grizzlys and Calgary Canucks this past weekend, both by the scores of 5-1 to head into the Christmas break on a winning note.

On Saturday in Olds, the team was led by Joseph Borthwick and Brody Dale, who both netted two goals on the night to give the Storm the win. Brett Meerman also added a goal for the Storm.

Goaltender Kaeden Lane stopped 23 of 24 shots in the victory.

Less than 24 hours later, the Storm traveled to Calgary and defeated the Calgary Canucks 5-1.

Austin Schellenberg added two goals on the day for his first career multi-goal game with the Storm. The team also saw Brent Loukus, Lukas Konashuk and Jarin Sutton add goals in the victory.

Lars Kaliel picked up the victory for the Storm. His record is now 7-2-1 since November 2.

The Storm will head home for the Christmas break sitting in fifth place in the AJHL’s North division with a 15-17-3, three points behind Whitecourt. The team has picked up points in 10 of their last 12 heading into the break.

The Storm return to action on January 3 against the Drumheller Dragons. The game is set for 7:30 p.m. at Revolution Place.
