Scam warning from local resident

A caller to Everything GP has a phone scam warning for people in the Peace Region.

She says someone phoned her, saying she had won $785,000 in a contest, but she needed to send a $4200 registration fee to collect.

The scammer will use names of businesses. The intended scam target has used in the past, in this case Reader’s Digest and Canadian Tire.

Any scams like this can be reported to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre or the RCMP.
